Sitting in the soft bedroom chair of our Montana home, the pleasing instrumental "Morning's Light," played a sweet memory.
Like an unbelievable movie reel, the characters I knew well. Dawn's light found them laughing, loving & so much alive with happiness. So unaware their days together were numbered.
In awe, the hues across their Montana Mountains strolled softly like a painter's brush in the morning. Outside the window, the sound of their favorite Meadowlark's song swept a cool breeze into morning's light.
As I stirred from my movie, the peacefulness of notes that continued to play surrounded my "no regrets" moment. I thought: How fragile is life. Young or old. We never know when those we love may be unexpectedly swept into Jesus arms.
Being at peace. Loving those around us. These are the treasures of life.
Turmoil. Strivings. Challenges. Big bumps in the road! Cranky days when we're not our best self. Those "leave me alone" days. Those "just let me sulk in my Post Toasties" moments. We laugh, but we've been there.
God forgive us for our selfish ways. In a phone call with my son Cody, we agreed we needed to do better in life. Both of us sick, we didn't mean only physical health, but in all aspects!
We all need "healing." Whether it is grief; broken relationships; unforgiveness; judgement of others; broken finances; or children & parents off track. Hope abounds no matter the circumstance.
God's healing flourishes in all of life with this promise: "For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord." (Jeremiah 30:17)
Our gratefulness for God's mercy rings true in Jeremiah 16:14, "Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, & I shall be saved: for thou art my praise."
Contemporary Christian band Big Daddy Weave, from Mobile, Alabama, tells the story of their wounds & rallying cry “Let It Begin.” Wading into a river of divine healing, the beloved band affirms God never leaves us where we've been.
"There's a river that delivers me to freedom. And the current of His mercy brings restoration. If my wounds could tell one story, let it be a testimony. That You don't leave me where I've been. If this is healing, let it begin!"
The Bible records in ancient times there came from Gilead, beyond the Jordan, a substance used to heal & soothe. It came, perhaps, from a tree or shrub, and was a major commodity of trade in the ancient world. It was known as the Balm of Gilead.
The name became symbolic for God's power to soothe and heal.
Wherever the path of healing takes you today, the Great Physician waits with outstretched arms to heal. If this is healing, let it begin.
