This is my second year walking through The Bible Recap, a daily podcast hosted by Tara-Leigh Cobble that helps listeners read and understand Scripture in 365 days.

This week, she shared a story that settled deep in my heart.

As the youngest of six, Tara-Leigh remembered how her grandmother lovingly handmade stuffed beanbag frogs for each grandchild. Frail and nearly blind, her grandmother spent hours cutting, stitching, and filling each one. They weren’t beautiful by the world’s standards—lumpy, uneven, and far from cuddly—but they were rich with something far more valuable: love.

One day, those frogs unknowingly ended up for sale at a yard sale. And who should come by but her grandmother. Seeing them laid out on that table, she didn’t hesitate. She opened her purse and bought every single one back. She had made them. She had poured herself into them. Flawed as they were, they still belonged to her.

What a picture of redemption.

God made us with intention and love. Yet somewhere along the way, we traded our worth for lesser things. We wandered, we sold ourselves short, we forgot who we belonged to. But God… He didn’t walk away. He came after us. Not because we were perfect—but because we were His. Through Christ, He paid the ultimate price to redeem what was always His to begin with.

“The Lord Almighty says: ‘Give careful thought to your ways.’” — Book of Haggai 1:5

That’s why the song God’s Way by We The Kingdom resonates so deeply: “I’m craving God’s way, way down in my veins. I’m done with looking for love in empty things…I’m calling on God’s name… Hallelujah, Heaven finally had its way with me. Now I’m walking God’s way.”

There comes a moment when we realize the things we’ve chased could never satisfy. And in that moment, redemption doesn’t just become a concept—it becomes personal. We are the frogs on the table… and the treasures in His eyes.

What “yard sale tables” have you allowed your life to rest on—places where your value has been underestimated or misplaced?

And when you think about the price God paid to redeem you, does it change the way you see your worth… and the way you choose to live going forward?

Closing Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me enough to come after me—even when I wandered and lost sight of my worth. Thank You for redeeming me, not because I am perfect, but because I am Yours.

Help me to see myself through Your eyes and to walk in the freedom You have given me. Teach me to turn away from empty things and to crave Your way above all else. In Jesus name, Amen.
